We finally got everybody in one place again last night. We even got to sit down as a family and enjoy a dinner of "broasted chicken", which, after some investigating, we found is just pressure-fried chicken. It was very good, though, and the hotel's restaurant served up half a bird at once. Although it was all-you-could-eat, I think one serving was all anyone could eat. Of course, we had to test out he hotel bar, and I'm happy to say that it is still operating at full capacity. Our readers from last year will certainly remember Donna, who is stil serving at the restaurant and as bartender. She kept our glasses full. We shot the bull with a couple other teams, talking strategy.
On a sad note, "Happy" the otter, who resided at the bar across the street, and made such an impression on the guys last year, has passed. The official story is that she died of old age, but there are rumblings that she may have actually died of acute hot dog overendulgence. Whatever the cause, Eagle River seems a little less happy without here. RIP, Happy.
After our continental breakfast, we are ready to head over for registration. The over 30 team plays first this morning, at 10:45. The over 40 team's first game is at 1:00pm. I'll try to give you some updates from the rink, and get some pictures on the blog later. Gotta run.
