The night before

Okay, so here we are, the night before we head up north. My bag is about 90% packed. And when I say "my bag", I mean my hockey bag. It's been gutted of all non-critical equipment, and the space filled with all manner of clothes designed to keep warm. The forecast for the weekend in Wisconsin is highs in the upper 20's, so I don't think it will be as cold as we were afraid it would be.

Among my gear to keep warm:
  • 2 pairs of Under Armour 2.0 Cold Gear pants
  • sweat pants and sweat shirt
  • double layers of socks - liners and outer layer
  • 2 long-sleeve thermal shirts
  • long shell hockey pants
  • liner gloves to wear under my hockey gloves
  • and about two dozen toe and foot warmer packs
  • Under Armour skull cap and full face hood (think bank robber outfit)
What with the veritable heat wave going on up there, I might even be hot in all this gear. I also may be eating my words come Friday morning.

The NC crew is all meeting up in Charlotte in the morning. A little over half the group will be carpooling or caravanning from my house. Our flight connects through Detroit, where we will pick up Doug, who is coming from Seattle. We're supposed to be in Wausau, WI at 5:30pm, and Eagle River is 1.5-2 hours north. Here's hoping all the travel goes smoothly...
